Wordly · iOS
Support
Wordly puts English words on your Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, one at a time, at your level and on your topics. Words you learn count toward daily, weekly and monthly goals and a streak, and come back for review.

Common questions
How do I add the Word widget?
Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area until the apps jiggle, tap Edit › Add Widget, search for Wordly and choose Word. Lock Screen: touch and hold it, tap Customize › Lock Screen, tap the area below the time, choose Wordly, add a widget and tap Done. To show Today's Words, Review or Favorites, or hide the translation, touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget.
What does Mark learned on the widget do?
It counts that word as learned on the day you tap it. The widget shows it as Learned, and Wordly adds it to your progress the next time you open the app. Each word counts once. Lock Screen widgets have no button; tap one to open the word.
Why doesn't the word change every time I unlock?
iOS decides when widgets redraw, and apps aren't told when you lock or unlock your iPhone. Wordly plans a new word for every time slot, so you'll usually see a different word when you pick up your iPhone, but not on every unlock. Set the slot in Wordly's Settings › Widgets › Change the word: Every 15 minutes (default), Every 30 minutes, Every hour or Every 3 hours.
How do I change the translation or the app's language?
In Wordly's Settings › Languages, under Translate words into, pick Vietnamese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified) or No translation. Definitions are always in English. The app's own language follows iOS: tap Change under App language, or open Settings › Apps › Wordly › Language. No Language row? Add the language under Settings › General › Language & Region first.
How do I back up or move to a new iPhone?
There's no account: your data is stored only on your iPhone and in your own device backups; we never receive it. A new iPhone set up from an iCloud or computer backup gets it too. Otherwise, in Wordly tap Settings › Back up now, then Save to Files… or Share… (anyone with the file can read it). On the new iPhone, install Wordly, finish setup, tap Settings › Restore from backup…, pick the file and tap Replace. This replaces Wordly's data there.
Can I export the words I've learned?
Yes. Settings › Export learned words (CSV) saves your learned words with their level, topics, translation, learned day and review status. It isn't a backup; use Back up now for that.
How does Listen work?
Tap the speaker button on the Today card, a word's page or a review card; Wordly uses your iPhone's own US English voice. Written pronunciations are American English, from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary. No speaker button? Add an English voice in Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices. Hear nothing? Check the volume and Silent mode.
How do I delete everything?
In Wordly, tap Settings › Delete all data and confirm twice. Your progress, history, favorites, settings and automatic backups are deleted. Deleting the app also removes its data. Files you saved elsewhere, and earlier iCloud or computer backups, keep what they had.
