Common questions
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored only on your iPhone, and in your own iPhone backups if you use iCloud or computer backups. We have no servers and never receive it. There is no account, and Kickstand works offline.
How do I back up, or move to a new iPhone?
Tap the gear on the Home tab to open Settings, tap Back up now, then Save to Files… or Share…. The file holds your vehicles, records, fill-ups, reminders, photos and settings; anyone who has it can read it. On the new iPhone, tap Restore from a backup on the welcome screen (or Settings › Restore from backup…), pick the file and tap Replace (Add to my garage keeps what's already there). Then turn on Settings › Allow notifications.
How do I export to a spreadsheet?
Tap Settings › Export CSV, choose All vehicles or one vehicle, and Service records, Fill-ups or both, then Save to Files… or Prepare to share. A CSV file has no photos or reminders and can't be restored; use Back up now for a full copy.
How do maintenance reminders work?
On the Reminders tab, tap Add reminder and set Remind me by to Date, Distance or Both (whichever comes first). You're notified on the due day at the time in Settings › Remind me at, and 3 and 7 days later while it's overdue (Remind again if overdue). For distance, Kickstand estimates the day from your odometer readings, so keep them current (+ on the Home tab › Update odometer); Weekly odometer check asks every Saturday. Archived vehicles and the sample garage send no reminders.
Why didn't a reminder arrive?
Check Settings › Allow notifications; if iOS has them off, the switch opens iOS Settings. A Focus or the Scheduled Summary can hold reminders back, and the Silent switch silences their sound. Force-quitting Kickstand, Low Power Mode (Adaptive Power can turn it on) or not opening it for many days stops it from scheduling the next reminders, so open it now and then. Settings › Reminders not firing? shows what's scheduled and can send a test notification.
Can I use more than one currency?
Yes. Each service visit and fill-up keeps its own currency; Settings › Units and currency only sets the default for new entries. Kickstand never converts between currencies: totals are shown per currency, and Stats lets you pick one.
How do I add receipt or vehicle photos?
Tap Add receipt photo in a service, fill-up or mark-done form (up to 4 per entry), or Add photo in a vehicle's editor. Kickstand uses the system photo picker and receives only the photos you pick. There's no camera button, so take the photo in the Camera app first. Backups include photos.
How do I delete everything?
Tap Settings › Delete all data. Kickstand offers Back up first, then asks twice. It deletes your vehicles and photos, records, fuel, reminders, settings and automatic backups, and cancels scheduled reminders. Or delete the app. Files you saved elsewhere stay where they are, and earlier iCloud or computer backups may still hold a copy.
Kickstand says it couldn't open its data. What now?
Nothing has been deleted. Tap Try again. If that doesn't help, use a restore option on the same screen, or email us the support code it shows. Start over sets your data aside on this iPhone; it doesn't delete it.
