Common questions
What is free, and what needs the Full Version?
Every format and sport is free for sessions of up to 8 players on 2 courts, for as long as you use Courtboard: check-in, saved players, paste a list, rounds, roster changes, swaps, substitutions, scores, standings, the court board, past sessions, CSV export, backups and Delete all data. A session's 9th player or 3rd court, saved groups, level balancing and season statistics need the Full Version. The first time you need it, Courtboard offers a free 14-day trial; after that, the Full Version is a one-time purchase, with no subscription and no ads.
What happens when the trial ends?
A session you set up during the trial keeps running after it ends, with all its players and courts; only growing it further needs the Full Version. Your players and past sessions stay, and every format still works for up to 8 players on 2 courts.
I already bought the Full Version. How do I restore it?
Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, open Settings › Full Version in Courtboard and tap Restore Purchases. Restore Purchases is also on the offer screen.
How do I redeem a code, and does Family Sharing work?
Tap Settings › Full Version › Redeem Code and enter it. The Full Version works with Family Sharing: if a family organizer bought it with sharing on, it unlocks for everyone in the family group. The free trial isn't shared.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles every purchase, so refunds go through Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose Courtboard's purchase. We can't see or refund purchases ourselves.
How do I back up, and move to a new iPhone?
There's no account. Your data is stored only on your iPhone, and in your own iPhone backups if you use iCloud or computer backups. We have no servers and never receive it. A new iPhone set up from an iCloud or computer backup gets your players and sessions too. You can also tap Settings › Back up now, then Save to Files… or Share…; anyone with the file can read it. On the new iPhone, install Courtboard, tap Settings › Restore from backup…, pick the file and tap Replace. A session that was live comes back live, ready for its next round.
How are rounds made fair?
Each round, everyone who is here is owed a share of the sit-outs. Courtboard sits out those furthest below their share, so nobody sits out twice before everyone has sat out once, and a late arrival starts even. Then it picks teams so that nobody partners the same person twice while another arrangement is possible, and spreads opponents too. Paused players aren't scheduled and earn no sit-outs; players who left keep their games in the standings.
How do I paste a sign-up list?
Copy the list from your group chat (Zalo, WhatsApp, Messenger or Messages), then at check-in tap Paste a list and paste it. Numbers like "1." or "2)", bullets, check marks and emoji are removed, and (W), (M) and [1] to [5] after a name set gender and level. The preview shows who will be checked in; a name already here or listed twice is checked in once. New names are saved to your players for next time.
Someone arrives late, needs a break or leaves. What do I do?
Tap Players during the session. Add a player checks someone in for the next round; Pause takes a player out until you tap Back in; Leave marks who went home. Every change applies from the next round and shows Undo for a few seconds.
A player was injured mid-game. Can someone take over?
Touch and hold the player's name on the court card and choose Injured: substitute, then pick who goes on; the suggested player is starred. The injured player is counted as having played the game, the result goes to the players on court at the end, and the substitute keeps their sit-out.
Does the screen stay on?
Yes, while a session is live and on the court board, so the board stays up during play. Turn it off in Settings › Board › Keep the screen on.
How do I delete everything?
Tap Settings › Delete all data and confirm twice. Your players, groups, sessions and settings are deleted from this iPhone; your purchases stay with your Apple Account. Deleting the app also removes its data. Files you saved elsewhere, and earlier iCloud or computer backups, keep what they had.
