Duck Out: Scheduled Call · iOS

Support

Duck Out rings your iPhone with a simulated call that you schedule yourself, a discreet way to step out of a meeting, a date or any situation you'd rather leave. It rings your own iPhone: no real call is placed or received, and nobody is contacted.

Common questions

Where is my data stored?

Your callers, their photos, your call history and your settings are stored only on your iPhone and in your own device backups; we never receive them. There is no account and no server.

How does the call ring?

With Duck Out open, the call rings full-screen in the app, even on Silent while “Ring even when iPhone is on Silent” is on (the default). On a locked iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later and Alarms allowed, it rings as an alarm showing your caller's name, even on Silent or in a Focus; tap Answer to open the call. On earlier versions, a locked iPhone gets a Time Sensitive notification, which follows the Silent switch; to ring through Silent, keep Duck Out open with Stay ready. It is never the iPhone's own call screen.

What are the limits?

Calls ring at your ringer volume. When your iPhone is locked, pressing a side or volume button stops the ring. If you hide Duck Out or lock it with Face ID, iPhone can't ring it.

My call didn't ring. What should I check?

In Duck Out, open Settings and tap “Will my call ring?”. It shows whether Alarms and notifications are allowed, gives you a button to fix each one, and lists your recent calls. If both are off, Duck Out can ring only while it's open. If Time Sensitive is off, a Focus can hold your call back. After an iOS update, open Duck Out once so it can re-check your call. Then tap “Send a test call in 15 seconds”.

Can I start a call from Control Center or Shortcuts?

Yes. On iOS 18 or later, add the “Ring me in 1 min” control to Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button. On any supported iOS version, run the “Ring me in 1 minute” shortcut from the Shortcuts app, Siri, Back Tap or the Action button. Each one opens Duck Out, which then schedules a call from your selected caller in 1 minute. Settings › Quick access shows the steps.

How do I back up, or move to a new iPhone?

Your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup includes Duck Out's data. You can also make a backup file: go to Settings › Data › Back up now, then choose Save to Files… or Share…. Anyone who has the file can read it. On the new iPhone, tap Restore from a backup when you first open Duck Out, or use Settings › Data › Restore from backup…, choose the file and tap Replace. A scheduled call isn't carried over in the file, so schedule it again.

How do I delete everything?

Use Settings › Data › Delete all data. It deletes your callers and photos, call history, settings and automatic backups from this iPhone, and cancels a scheduled call. Backup files you saved elsewhere are not affected. Deleting the app also removes its data from this iPhone.

Duck Out does not contact anyone. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Read the privacy policy.
